Pablo Picasso’s portrait *Dora Maar au chat* is dated 1941. On 3 May 2006, it sold at Sotheby’s evening auction in New York for about $95.2 million including the buyer’s premium. At the time, it was the second-highest auction price for a painting. The hammer price—the winning bid before the buyer’s premium—was $85 million.
