A Tiger's Unique Stripes
A tiger’s stripes are visible not only in its coat; the pattern is also present on its skin. Each tiger has an individual pattern, so researchers can identify animals from camera-trap photographs. Comparing this with fingerprints is an analogy, not a claim that the two kinds of markings are biologically equivalent.
