The Great Pyramid of Giza
The Pyramid of Khufu at Giza was built about 4,500 years ago. Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities gives its original height as about 146.5 m and says it remained the world’s tallest structure for roughly 3,800 years. Millions of stone blocks were used. Archaeological evidence supports quarrying, transport, and the use of ramps or inclined structures in pyramid construction. The precise ramp layout and some logistics for the Great Pyramid remain debated because no complete construction plan survives.
