Ostrich Speed
Yes. An ostrich can reach about 70 km/h in a short sprint. The Smithsonian’s National Zoo gives a top speed of 43 mph (about 69 km/h) and notes that ostriches can sustain lower speeds—around 48–59 km/h—in observed runs.
So 70 km/h is a brief maximum, not a pace the bird maintains for long. A scientific study of ostrich running biomechanics likewise cites 70 km/h for short sprints and about 50 km/h for sustained running.
