Michelin introduced VISION in 2017 as a tire-and-wheel concept without air, with the idea of a renewable 3D-printed tread. Its porous structure was intended to carry loads without inflation, while the tread could be adapted to mobility needs. This describes a concept, rather than proving every modern airless wheel already has a custom-printed tread. The UPTIS prototype, shown in 2019, is a separate step in airless technology; it should not be conflated with the full set of VISION ambitions.
