The Little Finger's Role in Grip

The little and ring fingers on the ulnar side of the hand make an important contribution to power grip, helping stabilize an object against the palm. In a biomechanical study, excluding the little finger from a grip noticeably reduced total grip strength, although the exact percentage depends on hand position, task, and measurement method. The little finger is not the primary digit for pinching with the thumb; precision grips are usually led by the thumb and index finger.
