Air for the Veyron's Engine
At top speed, the Bugatti Veyron’s engine is often said to pump about 45,000 L of air per minute, a figure repeated in accounts of a Top Gear test. Compared with an assumed adult resting ventilation of about 6 L/min, that is roughly 5.2 days, not seven; the analogy depends on what “a person’s air needs” means and on measurement conditions. Bugatti publishes engine specifications, but I did not find an independent primary measurement for this exact airflow figure. [1–3]
The often-quoted estimate is 45,000 L/min; the breathing comparison is approximate.
