Ray Bradbury disliked the pacing and acting in NBC’s television miniseries based on *The Martian Chronicles*. In a 1988 interview, he called it boring and said the director seemed to have worked in his sleep. This was Bradbury’s personal opinion; the Paley Center archive records the miniseries’ first broadcast on 27 January 1980.
