Is "OK" the world's most popular word?

“OK” is one of the best-known and most widely used international words, but there is no verified global contest or objective ranking for “the world’s most popular word.” Comparing all languages is difficult: “popularity” could mean frequency in speech, writing, or recognition. Linguist Dennis Baron writing for Oxford University Press describes “OK” as nearly universal, while cautioning that book counts do not measure spoken use.
