Europe’s lowest elevation

Under the commonly used Europe–Asia boundary, Europe’s lowest elevation is on the northern Caspian shore in the Caspian Lowland, about 28 m below global sea level. The Caspian’s water level changes, so −28 m is an approximate reference value rather than a fixed elevation. Europe’s eastern boundary is also conventional.
