The Titanic film and the ship's cost
The fully equipped Titanic cost about £1.5 million, or roughly $7.5 million at the exchange rate of the time. James Cameron’s 1997 film had an estimated budget of $180–200 million—more in nominal dollars, but the figures come from different years and currencies. The film budget also covered a large ship replica set and a new studio. Without converting both costs to the same year's prices, a direct comparison is misleading.
Different years and currencies call for a careful comparison.
