The Black Sea and Ukraine’s rivers
The Black Sea proper, excluding the Sea of Azov, covers roughly 420,000–423,000 km² in estimates by the Black Sea Commission and the European Commission; other sources give somewhat larger figures depending on boundaries and method. The Danube, Dnieper, and Dniester discharge into the northwestern Black Sea. The Southern Bug flows into the Dnieper–Bug estuary, which opens into the Black Sea.
