Identical twins’ fingerprints are similar but not identical: shared genes influence broad pattern features, while fine details form during development before birth. The main ridges begin to appear in the womb, and their formation is influenced not only by genes but also by how the fingers develop. So matching DNA does not create duplicate fingerprints.
