The coolest brown dwarfs
Among substellar objects, the coolest are Y-class brown dwarfs: they cool and fade over time. Jupiter is far too low in mass to be a brown dwarf. The boundary depends on composition and model, but about thirteen Jupiter masses is often used as a guide for significant deuterium burning—far more than the planet’s present mass.
