Airflow speed in a sneeze

There is no single universal sneeze-air speed. In an experiment with ten healthy volunteers, peak airflow velocity was about 15.9 m/s (57 km/h); other methods and participants yield different values. The popular 160 km/h figure should therefore not be presented as a typical measured speed. Droplet speed and airflow speed are also not identical. [1–3]

The peak flow is brief and variable; illustration is schematic.
