Natalie Portman and languages

Natalie Portman is multilingual, but the claim that she is fluent in five languages overstates her abilities. She describes Hebrew as her first language, while English is her primary language; in a GQ interview she said she speaks Hebrew fluently and French “okay.” Portman has also studied French, German, Japanese, and Arabic, but studying a language is not the same as speaking it fluently. I found no reliable confirmation that she is fluent in Japanese and German.
