Agatha Christie’s mysterious disappearance

In December 1926, Agatha Christie disappeared for eleven days after her mother’s death and the breakdown of her marriage. She was found at the Hydro Hotel in Harrogate, registered under the surname Neele—the surname of her husband’s lover. Whether the disappearance was a deliberate stunt, a breakdown, or amnesia has never been established conclusively. The claim that she knowingly staged the whole episode is one theory, not a proven fact.
