Atlantic and Pacific salinity
On average, Atlantic surface waters are saltier than Pacific waters. NOAA identifies the Atlantic as the saltiest ocean basin; one contributor to the contrast is greater evaporation relative to precipitation in the Atlantic, while the Pacific receives more freshwater. Salinity varies substantially by latitude, season, and location, so this is not true of every place or depth.
