Humor and Attractiveness
Dating and partner-preference studies suggest that women rated men who produced humor more favorably in some experimental scenarios; producing humor should be distinguished from appreciating someone else’s jokes. But the claim that this makes men generally more popular is too broad. The cited studies do not establish a link to higher testosterone: they measured humor and attractiveness ratings, not a causal hormonal mechanism. [1–2]
Humor can affect partner ratings, but the hormonal explanation is unproven.
