Iceland, environmental performance and peace

Iceland is the most peaceful country in the 2026 Global Peace Index, holding the top position for 19 consecutive years. “Cleanest,” however, is too vague without a definition. In Yale’s 2026 Environmental Performance Index, Iceland ranked 28th overall but first on the air-quality indicator. The peace claim is supported by a specific index; the environmental lead applies to one measure, not an all-purpose notion of cleanliness.
