the world’s largest delta

The world’s largest delta is the combined Ganges–Brahmaputra–Meghna delta on the Bay of Bengal. Its distributaries, tidal waterways, mudflats, and mangrove islands form the changing landscape of the Sundarbans. Monsoon rains and floods, sediment deposition, and tides continually reshape islands and channels; floods can cause damage but also enrich the soil.
