Pacific Islands
More than 25,000 islands are scattered across the Pacific Islands region. Many are volcanic islands or tropical coral atolls. This is a broad regional estimate: the exact count depends on how “Pacific Islands” is bounded and which small islets are included. The U.S. National Science Foundation gives the “over 25,000” estimate.
