How Long People Spend Looking at Others
The claim that men spend about 20 minutes a day, or 5–8 months over a lifetime, looking at women is not established as a scientifically measured average. The viral figure traces to a 2009 poll commissioned by Kodak Lens Vision Centres in Britain: it attributed 43 minutes a day to men and 20 minutes to women. It was a self-report poll, and lifetime totals extrapolate across an assumed age range rather than objectively tracking gaze. [1–2]
The viral figures come from a self-report poll, not long-term tracking.
