The Danube and its delta
The Danube is Europe’s second-longest river after the Volga. Sources give its length as about 2,850–2,860 km (Danubeparks reports 2,857 km). At its mouth on the Black Sea, the river forms Europe’s largest and one of its best-preserved deltas; UNESCO recognizes the delta for its natural value.
