The Ethiopian calendar

The Ethiopian calendar is seven or eight years behind the Gregorian calendar, depending on the time of year; the difference changes around the Ethiopian New Year in September. Ethiopia marked the transition to its third millennium on September 12, 2007, with commemorations continuing through September 2008.
