Озера й запаси прісної води Канади

Canada does have more than two million lakes under broad counts, but estimates depend on the minimum surface area used to define a lake. A newer government report counts more than 875,000 lakes at least 0.1 km² in area; the “over two million” figure includes much smaller water bodies. The 20% statistic also needs care: it refers broadly to Canada’s share of global freshwater stocks/surface freshwater across lakes, rivers, and wetlands, not water in Canadian lakes alone. The Great Lakes, shared with the United States, contain about 18% of the world’s surface freshwater. There is no single universal lake count without specifying a size threshold.
