Daytime Sea Breeze, Nighttime Land Breeze

This describes the local sea-breeze circulation. During the day, land usually warms faster than water; warmer air over land rises, and cooler air moves from the sea toward shore. At night, land cools faster, so when larger-scale winds are weak, the circulation can reverse into a land breeze from shore toward the water. This is a local example of wind, not a complete explanation of all winds on Earth. [1–2]

Sea breezes often blow onshore by day and offshore at night.
