A little wonder, every day
The high-speed SR-71 expanded as it heated

The key cause is structural heating, not speed by itself.

An aircraft does not grow longer simply because it is traveling at 1,000 km/h. But heating of the structure at very high speed makes metal expand. For example, the SR-71 reconnaissance aircraft could lengthen by several inches during flight near Mach 3; that is a special condition, not a rule for all fighters.
