Hydrogen: Most Abundant Element in Ordinary Matter

In the universe’s ordinary, or baryonic, matter, hydrogen accounts for about 75% of the mass and over 90% of atoms by number. This does not mean 75% of the mass of the entire universe: dark matter and dark energy are not ordinary matter made of chemical elements.

Synthetic cosmic illustration of hydrogen and stellar clouds; not an astronomical observation.
