How many icebergs are there?
The figure of about 320,000 is not a current count of all icebergs on Earth. It matches the 320,493 icebergs recorded in 26,601 ship observations in the Norwegian Polar Institute database. These are observation records, mostly around Antarctica, not a simultaneous global census. Another study estimates about 130,000 Antarctic icebergs longer than 10 m during summer.
