Over a hundred viruses can cause a cold

The claim is broadly correct: more than 200 different viruses can cause cold-like illness. Rhinoviruses are the most frequent cause; seasonal coronaviruses, parainfluenza, adenoviruses, enteroviruses, and metapneumovirus can also cause colds. Influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and RSV can cause cold-like symptoms, but CDC distinguishes them from the common cold. “Runny nose” is a common symptom here, not the name of a single virus.
