Who hunts in a lion pride

In many prides, lionesses hunt together more often and do a substantial share of the group’s hunting. But “males intervene only when needed” is an overgeneralization: males hunt too, often alone or targeting larger prey such as buffalo. In a Kruger National Park study, sex alone did not determine overall hunting success; prey type, group size, and environmental conditions mattered.
