Buddhist traditions emphasize liberation from suffering, ethical conduct, wisdom and attentive awareness. Yet describing all Buddhism as meditation without rituals or devotion to buddhas and bodhisattvas is inaccurate. Schools and communities differ, and ranking all Christians, Muslims or Jews on one scale of greater worship obscures such diversity.
