Seasonal swings in children's growth

Some longitudinal studies have found that children’s growth rate varies through the year, with certain cohorts gaining height faster in spring or summer. But this is not a universal rule for every child or climate: one large U.S. schoolchildren study found faster height gain during the school year than in summer. Season and measurement timing matter for short intervals, while annual growth also depends on age, puberty, and health. [1–3]

Seasonal patterns vary by cohort and measurement period.
