The liver receives a substantial share of blood flow, about a quarter of cardiac output in a physiological account. But “over 100 liters every hour” is not a fixed norm for everyone. A flow of one and a half liters per minute, for example, mathematically equals 90 liters per hour; values depend on conditions and estimation methods. This is cumulative flow of recirculating blood, rather than 90 liters of separate new blood or blood stored in the liver.
