From 22 to 25 October 2009, American Aaron Hibbs kept a hula hoop moving for 74 hours and 54 minutes. The source list gives the surname incorrectly as “Gibbs”; sources spell it Hibbs. For marathon records, Guinness allows a five-minute rest after each uninterrupted hour of activity, and rest breaks can be accumulated. In 2019, Jenny Doan surpassed Hibbs’s result by hooping for 100 hours, so the 2009 achievement is historical rather than the current record.
