Fact 1102 — Africa and U.S. area

Africa covers about 29.65 million km². The U.S. Census Bureau gives the United States a total area of 9.83 million km², making Africa about three times larger. Comparing Africa with U.S. land area alone (9.15 million km²) gives about 3.24 times. The 3.5 figure is too high using these consistent measurements. [1–2]
