A little wonder, every day
A whole ostrich egg is not one shell-covered cell

A whole ostrich egg should not be called a single two-kilogram cell. Shell, albumen and membranes are added structures rather than parts of one enormous cell. A freshly laid fertile egg can already contain a multicellular embryonic disc: an early-development study explicitly measured such blastoderms. The oocyte and the complete laid egg are different objects.
