Fact 1110 — Dune du Pilat

Dune du Pilat, near the entrance to France’s Arcachon Bay, is regarded as Europe’s tallest dune. Its height changes with the shifting sand: a regional tourism site gives 100–110 m depending on the year, while the official Grand Site gives 101 m. A height of 130 m is not supported by current measurements. [1–2]
