Selling Air and Oxygen
Yes. During severe smog episodes in China, sellers marketed canisters of “clean air” from mountain or other cleaner regions; cans containing a mixture of air and oxygen were also reported. These were commercial products or novelty gifts, not a proven way to treat the effects of pollution. Medical oxygen is a separate product used for medical indications. Alexander Belyaev published the science-fiction novel The Air Seller in 1929, long before modern canned-air sales. [1–3]
Marketed canned air is a product, not a substitute for cleaner city air.
