Canada’s lakes

Canada has more than 875,000 lakes larger than 0.1 km²—about 62% of the world’s lakes by number, according to a scientific estimate cited in a Canadian government report. Lakes cover almost 9% of the country. “More than half” is accurate under this size threshold, but the global share depends on which lakes are counted.
