Are There Zero-Calorie Foods?
The claim needs qualification: water provides no dietary energy, and FDA labeling rules allow a serving with fewer than 5 kilocalories to be listed as “0 calories.” That does not mean every product carrying that label literally contains no energy. So-called “negative-calorie foods,” supposedly requiring more energy to digest than they provide, are not supported by reliable evidence.
Synthetic illustration of low-energy foods; not a nutrition label.
