Europe’s islands
Europe’s islands have been estimated to cover more than 700,000 km², or over 7% of the continent’s area. Thus “about 730,000 km²” is a plausible rounded figure, not a single definitive total: the estimate depends on which islands and continental boundaries are counted. The three largest islands are Great Britain, Iceland, and Ireland.
